Morcheeba frontwoman, Skye returns with her brand new single, “Featherlight”. A precursor to her third solo record, “Featherlight” is a glorious rush of 80s synths, emotive strings and glittering dance-floor dynamics. The song, taken from the forthcoming album, “Back To Now”, was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer, Steve Fitzmaurice (Metronomy, Professor Green, Paloma Faith, Seal, Kylie Minogue).
Skye Edwards has been a prominent figure on the music landscape for almost 20 years, having fronted the 6 million album-selling trio, Morcheeba. A delicate, soothing vocalist with an equally gentle personality, she had shyness to overcome, negotiating stage-fright through Morcheeba’s years of enormous global success; their second album, 1998′s “Big Calm”, featuring two of the late 90s era-defining chill-out singles “The Sea” and “Part Of The Process” (songs you still hear in discerning bars and clubs across the planet to this day). “Back To Now” sees her sneak out of the low-lit smokey club, turn the corner, gather pace and head straight onto the neon-lit dance-floor. This is hypnosis by electronica: driving beats, multi-layered loops, vintage 80s synths and tremulous 21st Century sonics.
