Every potential box they could tick in terms of how successful this band are going
to be, they have ticked. – Mistajam, BBC Radio 1
Currently performing sold out shows on their biggest UK headline tour to date and with their long awaited and highly anticipated debut album That’s Your Lot released just last Friday, Blaenavon have shared brand new single ‘Lonely Side’ – given its first spin as Mistajam’s ‘Hottest Record In the World’ on BBC Radio 1.

The song marks a coming of age for the band, and may well be their most accomplished effort to date – fitting, as the whirlwind 18 months Blaenavon have had since passing up University places and focussing on the group full time has most certainly seen them bloom.
‘Lonely Side’ offers another insight into the world Blaenavon have created for their debut, exploring their own teenage years with intimate insights on universal themes. Discussing the song, singer/guitarist Ben Gregory offered the following:
“It’s probably about time that I admitted I am a young, ridiculous, romantic buffoon. I am in love with everyone at the same time: but in and out of love constantly – disillusioned like a juvenile James Dean. This is incredibly unhealthy, but also very fucking funny. I will continue to get absolutely everything wrong until I grow old, settle down and die. Until then, I walk the ‘Lonely Side’.”
Never shy of playing live, tours and shows alongside Two Door Cinema Club, Foals, DIIV, Mystery Jets, Sundara Karma, Songhoy Blues, Bloc Party and The Big Moon have been completed. The band have also just wrapped up their own headline run – selling out performances around the country and finishing at London’s Heaven on Friday 7 April, the album release day.
Recorded with Grammy-winning producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Bombay Bicycle Club, Bjork, Adele) That’s Your Lot marks a certain milestone for the band – a sumptuous, thrilling and brave collection of songs written throughout their teenage years and now fully realised. Intensely personal, yet exploring the universal experiences of friendship, sadness, hope, love held and lost, and all the confusions of youth – a body of work to help define a generation.
The LP includes explosive single ‘Orthodox Man’ – which received frequent BBC Radio 1 support, whilst also being playlisted at BBC 6 Music and Radio X – alongside critically acclaimed cuts ‘I Will Be The World, ‘Let’s Pray’ and ‘My Bark Is Your Bite’; a more than impressive run of singles of singles championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, NME and Fader, whilst collectively racking up over 2.5 million Spotify streams.
