Other Lives, a fiercely creative five-piece from Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA, are pleased to announce their new single For 12, a track off their soon-to-be-released second album, Tamer Animals.
For 12 evokes the timeless expansiveness of the Old West, with nary a saddle or spur in sight. With vertiginous glissandos set against galloping rhythms and Morricone-esque guitar, For 12’s haunting high lonesome sound alternates Jesse Tabish’s yearning, soaring vocal melodies with an eerie undertow of light-years-from-home strings. And if all that still isn’t enough to entice you, perhaps a thumb’s up from Thom Yorke will: For 12 ranked on a short list of songs he posted on Radiohead’s Dead Air Space Blog: www.radiohead.com/deadairspace.
Like the rest of Other Lives’ album Tamer Animals, For 12 was produced and mixed by Joey Waronker (Beck’s longtime drummer and scion of legendary producer Lenny Waronker). Tamer Animals will be unleashed in Australia on June 3rd through Liberator Music/[PIAS]/tbd records.
Fresh from having recently toured the USAwith The National and The Decemberists, Other Lives are currently scheduling tour dates in theUK and beyond.
Other Lives are: Jesse Tabish, Jonathon Mooney, Jenny Hsu, Colby Owens and Josh Onstott.
In addition to lead vocals, Jesse plays piano, guitar, harmonium, organ, vibes, and electric harpsichord. Along with Jesse, Jenny (cello) and Colby (drums) were founding members of Other Lives’ earlier incarnation, the band Kunek. Jonathon (who engineered the recording of Tamer Animals and co-wrote some of the songs with Jesse) can be heard on guitar, violin, French horn, trumpet, keys and percussion, while Josh on bass and almighty Mellotron rounds out the ensemble.
