SHOCK MACHINE
UNLIMITED LOVE
(single taken from Shock Machine album out 25 August 2017 through Liberator Music/Marathon Artists)

‘Unlimited Love’ is the new single from Shock Machine (James Righton of Klaxons), taken from his forthcoming debut self-titled album. ‘Unlimited Love’ is a bold, confident push forward into expansive, beatific 21st century sounds: crisp and concise, rich with gorgeous melodies, and sparkling with weird sounds.

Shock Machine has the sense an artist finding his own voice, unbothered by fashion or current notions of what’s hip. It feels like an album powered by the giddy rush of someone falling head over heels in love with music again – which is precisely what it is.

When Klaxons ended, James Righton was left filled with weirdness and anxiety, not knowing if he wanted to continue with music. He was so unsure whether he wanted to continue that he found himself writing a list of all the things he loves about music, without a filter of what’s cool or current. He started writing again with a newfound focus, and Shock Machine was born.

Recorded in a cabin in the south of France with producer James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Florence and the Machine), Shock Machine certainly doesn’t sound much like the work of a man at the end of his tether, unsure of whether he should even continue in music or not. It is joyous and positive: the sound of a man creating something that he loves.

Shock Machine will be released via Liberator Music/Marathon Artists. Marathon Artists represents the following artists in the UK: Courtney Barnett, Jagwar Ma, Jen Cloher, and Pond.
