XMAS-pressV1Earlier this year the group of friends who make up Australian acts DZ Deathrays, Yacht Club DJs and Bleeding Knees Club decided that they would team up and throw two parties in Sydney & Melbourne before hitting up Spin Off Festival and Splendour in the Grass. They called these parties ‘Call The Cops’ and what resulted at the shows was pure chaos…from nudity, smoke flares being let off by crowd members, hospital visits and more crowd surfing and stage invasions than anyone can remember. With all three acts busy in their own right this year, finding a time to make ‘Call The Cops’ happen again has been tough but as the holidays approach, it just so happens that a Christmas has occurred and the three acts will be throwing a huge CALL THE COPS XMAS PARTY at The Rev in Brisbane on Thursday the 13th of December!

Over the past few years Yacht Club DJs have established themselves as the masters of mayhem and some of Australia’s premiere mash up DJs. Having appeared at festivals such as Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass, Parklife and Meredith Music Festival, the two friends from Ballarat have not failed to leave carnage cluttered with loyal fans wherever they go…CALL THE COPS XMAS will be no different.

Similarly to Yacht Club, DZ Deathrays live shows have become somewhat talked about. Earlier this year Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley (the two friends who make up DZ Deathrays) released their debut LP ‘Bloodstreams’ which was quickly met with a flurry of praise from critics around the world (including Pitchfork & NME) and a rapidly rising fan base. This response has seen the two friends tour the US with acts like TRUST and Blood Red Shoes on top of completing successful headline tours of Europe and play festivals such as Reading & Leeds (UK), SXSW (US), The Great Escape Festival (UK), A Perfect Day Festival (ITA), Splendour in the Grass and Laneway Festival. DZ Deathrays will be returning to Australia this summer for Homebake, Festival of the Sun, shows with Sleigh Bells and finally a manic set at CALL THE COPS XMAS.

In February this year Bleeding Knees Club also released their debut LP, a 12 track offering titled ‘Nothing To Do’ which quickly found a place in the hearts of many, resulting in Jordan Malane & Alex Wall playing to sold out shows on their album tour before hitting up the main stage of Splendour in the Grass in July! Similarly to their counterparts on the bill, the two friends live shows have become somewhat notorious as their spazzy brand of surf punk turns fans frenzied more often than not closely followed by the band themselves.

Joining us for CALL THE COPS XMAS will be a bunch of our good friends from Brisbane including 12-piece Velociraptor playing live + DJ sets from Dune Rats, Millions and Gung Ho.
