“Armed with just two guitars, the duo reel you in with seriously catchy hooks and achieve more depth with these songs than any drum kit ever could.” – NME
“If rebellion had a sound, I imagine it would end up sounding a lot like Girlpool… It’s punk in the best sense of the word: fresh, raw, and uncompromising.” – Stereogum
“It’s brilliant.” – The Line of Best Fit
“Fever-pitch vocals, lo-fidelity guitar, and endless cool” – Pitchfork

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Girlpool is a Philadelphia based two piece made up of Cleo Tucker (Guitar) and Harmony Tividad (Bass). The two met at Los Angeles DIY venue the Smell and quickly grew very close. Their sound is raw, comprised only of a guitar, bass and vocal harmonies. Cleo and Harmony use this stripped-down instrumentation to accentuate their vulnerable and powerful lyrics.

January sees Girlpool visiting Australia for the first time, touring their acclaimed debut album Before The World Was Big. Album opener ‘Ideal World’ is a great jumping off point for those wishing to dive into the Girlpool; Cleo and Harmony’s vocals largely in unison, only occasionally taking different routes to unexpected, well, harmonies, underpinned by the kind of sparse guitar and bass that The Breeders might have come up with had they turned left rather than right after Pod.
