‘A GIRL LIKE YOU’
(taken from Ian Moss album out now through Bloodlines)

Ian Moss’ brand new solo album was released in March this year. Debuting at Number 11 on the ARIA Album Charts, it might astonish you to know that it’s his first solo album in nine years. For a legendary singer, songwriter and musician that works as hard as Mossy, that’s hard to fathom.

This self-titled set is well worth the wait. It’s his finest collection of songs since his multi-platinum, ARIA Award-winning solo debut, 1989’s Matchbook.

One of the many standout songs on the album is ‘A Girl Like You’.

Cold Chisel band mates Don Walker and Charley Drayton both feature on the track which name-checks one of Chisel’s favourite haunts when they moved to Sydney in the ’70s.“I remember when we first met, 5am at the Manzil Room/Everybody turned their head, and every eye was set on you.”

“This song literally came to me in a dream. I was dreaming I was watching a band somewhere and they were playing the verse. “What a cool little song,” I thought. “I wish I’d written something like that.” Then I woke up and realised it was actually my song. So I grabbed my iPhone to record it before I forgot it.”

Mossy performed this song for the first time live, plus a few other classics, at the annual AFL ANZAC Day blockbuster between Essendon and Collingwood at Melbourne’s famous MCG last Wednesday to a rousing crowd.

Ian and band will be performing songs from the new album, and a wide selection of the big hitters from the Cold Chisel/Ian Moss song books as he takes to the highways of Australia in June.
