Ian Moss’s brand new album lands in March and it might astonish you to know that it’s his first solo album in nine years.  For a legendary singer, songwriter and musician that works as hard as Mossy, that’s hard to fathom.

But this self-titled set is well worth the wait as it’s his finest collection of songs since his multi-platinum, ARIA Award-winning solo debut, 1989’s Matchbook.

And one of the many standout songs on the album is the stunning soul ballad ‘Broadway’, which Mossy wrote for his son, Julian.

“It’s a song about missing my son when I’m on the road,” he explains. “I love doing gigs and being on tour, but as soon as the plane was about to take off, down would come the blues.”

The years fall away so quickly now,” Mossy sings. I’ve had all the fortune and the fame. Oh, but I’d leave it all to yesterday just to be with you again’Cause I need a little something that feels like home.”

Mossy has had this song in his live set for the past year or so – in his words, “it’s sometimes hard when you play new songs live, but there’s always a hush when I do this song, which is very rewarding”.

Ian has also announced a national theatre tour with his full band.
