Jade Bird - Uh Huh

(single out now through Liberator Music/Glassnote Records)

‘She possesses a crystalline soprano so pure that it calls to mind bubbling spring water and untouched snowfall’

‘In the sweet spot between Jack White and Dolly Parton’ – Evening Standard

‘Jade Bird somehow manages to make life’s most painful moments sound so damn good’ – NME

The UK’s most exciting new pop talent, Jade Bird, has dropped her brand new single, ‘Uh Huh’, out now. The track premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record and is the follow-up to her early 2018 hit ‘Lottery’ – which was added to BBC Radio 1, was #1 on US Alt Radio and locally, added to FBi Radio, ABC local and more. Jade charmed local audiences and was championed by Spotify, Apple Music, Tone Deaf, The Brag, The AU Review, Music Feeds & more during her Sydney visit in February.

If Dolly Parton had written her own version of Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’, it would probably have sounded like Jade Bird’s new single ‘Uh Huh’. A raw power-pop anthem from the second it begins, listeners are thrown into the heart of the chaos as a fierce Jade Bird imparts some tough love and important relationship advice to a man potentially blinded by lust.

‘Uh Huh’ marks another cornerstone of Jade Bird’s thrilling ascent. In the time since her arrival last year with debut EP Something American, the world has opened its arms to the 20-year-old pop singer-songwriter. Not only has she toured profusely across the globe playing packed-out shows in all corners, supported First Aid Kit across North America, but she’s performed her breakthrough single ‘Lottery’ on Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and most recently the UK’s Later… With Jools Holland. Along the way, she’s found adoring fans and connected with captivated audiences.

All the while, Jade has been writing new music and working on her very own debut album. By self-admission, she’s setting her bar high and learning from some current icons that have proved the hugely inspiring over the last few years – Alanis Morissette, Alvvays, Christine & The Queens and HAIM, to name a few. Jade Bird is one of the most refreshing pop prospects we’ve seen in a long time; a prolific writer of intelligent but equally catchy songs that address themes that others are less brave too – disillusionment, divorce, cheating, sorrow – all twisted into the realities of an independent-minded, modern British female voice.
