Jimmy Barnes’ life story is now a powerful film, with an absolutely stunning soundtrack. From Working Class Boy, comes ‘Texas Girl At The Funeral Of Her Father’, recorded with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

‘Texas Girl At The Funeral Of Her Father’ was originally performed by American Randy Newman, from his 1977 album Little Criminals. The melody of the song haunted Jimmy as a child, especially in moments of anguish and despair. Now, he counts this collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra as a career highlight.

Working Class Boy joins Jimmy as he retraces his earliest steps through the hard streets of Glasgow. It walks with him as he revisits childhood ghosts in South Australia, reflecting on the domestic violence, poverty and alcoholism that would fuel his life. The film sets this raw, and sometimes darkly funny story against a backdrop of archival footage and interviews with family and friends.

Jimmy Barnes is the heart and the soul of Australian rock & roll. ‘Barnesy’ conjures up thoughts of rock music at an ear-splitting volume, and of soul standards given a unique reading. Jimmy has been through it all, and literally lived to tell the tales. He has sold more records in Australia than any other local rock & roll artist. He has enjoyed fifteen #1 albums here – more than the Beatles – and for over 40 years he has delivered some of our most intense and iconic live performances. He is truly in a league of his own.
