‘Answer To’ is the fresh new single from The Creases’ blissful debut LP, Tremolow.

A while before recording the album we had a little writing trip out past Murwillumbah in NSW to a cute lil cottage we found on Airbnb. We came up with the chorus on this trip jamming out together late one night. The melody and syllables came first with the vocals, and because it’s such a powerful and exposed part it took a while to write lyrics that felt right. I think originally when we were jamming it out it was something dumb like “I only answer to the man in the pants and shoes” which stuck as a joke for a long time.

This song is really just a clear combination of so many different influences and sounds we like. – Joe Agius, The Creases

The album opener creates a perfect mood with sing along melodies, head bopping guitars, loud drums and a dizzying array of synth-work. This infectious anthem follows on from the Brisbane band’s earlier singles ‘Is It Love’ and ‘Everybody Knows’. Both have won radio support nationally via triple j and community stations, as well as global love from Beats 1. The songs have also appeared on a bunch of Spotify and Apple Music playlists around the world.

Recorded in Melbourne over multiple sessions with producer Malcolm Besley (Northeast Party House, City Calm Down), Tremolow bursts with bright, Brit-pop infused jams that are soaked in lush retro soundscapes. The album features guest vocals from Hatchie and Ali Barter, as well as a welcomed addition of brass and strings from members of Saskwatch and Dorsal Fins. Its long awaited release has won the band a string of praise and a whole host of new fans.

These will be the band’s first headline shows since a sold-out east coast run in February. Their taut live sets blend raucous rock n roll with shining pop, delivered with the honest confidence of a young act on the rise. Don’t miss The Creases on tour this month with special guest, Hatchie. Tickets are available here.
