Armed with one of the most powerful voices in rock ‘n’ roll, Nic Cester has sold over six million albums out front of Jet.

Now, Cester is thrilled to release ‘Hard Times’ – the new single taken from his critically acclaimed debut solo album Sugar Rush.

Sugar Rush was produced by Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys, QOTSA) and recorded in Milan’s legendary Officine Mecchaniche studios and George Martin’s Air Studios in London.

“I wrote ‘Hard Times’ while imagining that one day I might become a father. Coincidentally my wife and I were expecting our first child, so naturally so you start thinking about what kind of parent you want to be, or what kind of things you hope to teach your children. Reflecting on my own experiences, I see no point in setting children up for disappointment by sugar-coating life and pretending that everything is going be okay all the time. Life isn’t always easy, but that’s nothing to be frightened off. ‘Hard Times’ will inevitably come but that’s okay, and completely normal, and we need to trust that we will be fine.”

The video clip for ‘Hard Times’ was shot in Italy and directed by long time collaborator Ugo Perazzini of OLO Creative Farm.

Nic has just finished up a huge, sold-out Australian and UK tour with Jet, and is about to get back with his Italian band The Milano Electtrica for concert dates in Italy.
