Graham Linehan

Frontier Comedy are thrilled to announce that 5x BAFTA-winning comedy writer Graham Linehan (Black Books, Father Ted, The IT Crowd, Big Train, Count Arthur Strong, The Walshes) will bring the world premiere of his comprehensive one day comedy writing workshop Insights Into The Art Of TV Comedy Writing to Melbourne and Sydney this June.

The comedy icon will host his very first two workshops at Melbourne’s Wheeler Centre on Sunday 17 and Monday 18 June, going onto two workshops at Sydney’s Darlinghurst Theatre on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a comedy writing maestro. Each workshop will take place from 10am – 4pm and include morning and afternoon tea. With limited tickets available, and a special discount offer for 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Sydney Comedy Festival participants, make sure you’re ready when tickets go on sale from 1pm AEST on Tuesday 17 April.

The Telegraph (UK)

‘Linehan is a comedy royal with an encyclopedic knowledge of sitcom history.’
The Telegraph (UK)

‘Graham is an obvious master.’

Graham Linehan says, “Creativity is messy and demanding and confusing. Writing is fun and easy and impossible and awful. Figuring it all out is something I’ve been trying to do for the last twenty five years and I’m hoping that I’ve gained enough insights into my own process that I won’t actually mess yours up too much. So come and join me!”

Born in the Republic of Ireland, Graham started writing comedy in the early 1990s after spending time as a music and film critic. He co-wrote the classic Irish sitcom Father Ted and went on to write and direct hugely popular shows such as Big Train, Black Books, The IT Crowd, Count Arthur Strong and The Walshes. He also wrote the highly-successful stage adaptation of The Ladykillers.

In addition to winning five BAFTAS (1996 Best Comedy, 1999 Best Comedy, 2001 Best Situation Comedy, 2009 Best Situation Comedy, 2014 Writer Comedy), Graham won the International Emmy for Best Comedy in 2008, an IFTA (2009 Best Script For Television) and two Writers Guild of Great Britain awards (1996 Situation Comedy and 1997 Light Entertainment). He has also been nominated for five BAFTAS (1997 Best Comedy, 1999 Best Light Entertainment, 2007 and 2008 Best Situation Comedy, 2014 Writer Comedy).
