I OH YOU is thrilled to share the beautiful video clip that shimmers as the perfect accompaniment to Jack River’s current single, ‘Confess’.

The video lands alongside the announcement of Jack River’s worldwide signing (ex ANZ) to Canada’s Nettwerk Music Group, who boast a roster featuring the likes of Angus & Julia Stone, Linying, Mallrat and Passenger, to name a few. Rachel Cragg, A&R at Nettwerk, was involved in the signing and commented,

It’s rare to find an artist like Jack River who has such a strong vision for who they are. Holly is a true talent, and we’re beyond excited to have her join the Nettwerk family and help share her music around the world.”

In further exciting news, Jack River has received three 2018 ARIA Award nominations for Best Pop Release, Best Breakthrough Artist and Engineer of the Year (Holly Rankin, Xavier Dunn, John Castle). Debuting at #11 on the ARIA Album Chart, Sugar Mountain has touched the hearts of many since its release on Friday 22 June.

‘Confess’ acts as a tribute to lessons learnt during the process of creating Sugar Mountain. It is an appreciation of the balance of being both strong and vulnerable at the same time and the celebration of the beginning of something new. Created with with director Imogen Grist, the clip mirrors that sentiment in the most nostalgic fashion.

“Imogen and I wanted to express a story of a wedding singer soaked in awkwardness and sentimental memories of weddings past. This video was originally inspired by a ‘How To Film Weddings’ video from the 80s on YouTube, it was so hilarious and awkward and strangely honest. My Mum collected videos of her friend’s weddings from the 80s and 90s and sent them to Imogen who picked out the ‘forever moments’. ‘Confess’ was made as a shrine to 90’s love songs and early 2000’s pop, so we wanted to bring that late 90’s grading in as much as possible to make everything feel like a home video.” – Jack River

The remarkable ‘Confess’ follows singles ‘Ballroom’, ‘Limo Song’Fool’s Gold’ and ‘Fault Line’ which have amassed over 15 million streams collectively, each telling a tale of the dream of an alternate youth, the theme pulsating throughout this electrifying debut LP from one of Australia’s most exciting young artists.

Under her Jack River moniker, Holly Rankin is a songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and director. Rankin is also the creator of Grow Your Own Festival in her hometown of Forster in NSW, and the mastermind behind Electric Lady World, which has seen Rankin throw dedicated nights across Sydney and Melbourne as well as curate stages at Mountain Sounds Festival and the recent Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Festival.

Fresh from her recent debut shows across the UK at The Great Escape and Dot To Dot Festivals, playing to a completely packed G W McLennan tent at this year’s Splendour in the Grass, Jack River embarked on her Sugar Mountain Tour in September, her biggest national headline tour to date, going on to sell every single ticket for a sold-out sweep across the country.

Fans eager for more Jack River over the summer can catch her at Falls Festival in Lorne, Byron Bay, Marion Bay and Fremantle over the New Year period, and at her very own Grow Your Own Festival in Forster on Saturday 12 January.
