Julia Jacklin

‘The Australian singer-songwriter has a knack for packing an emotional punch with her deceptively fragile sound… ‘Body’ marks an exciting return for the musician, and positions our eyes on the road to Jacklin’s next release.’ – NPR

Today, much-adored local singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin shares ‘Body’, her first release since 2017’s double A-side Eastwick/Cold Caller.

A stunning melding of delicate guitar and gentle vocals, ‘Body’ sees Jacklin taking stock and exploring some hard-hitting realities.

The song speaks for itself I think, but I’d say it’s just a very long and exaggerated sigh – born from feelings of powerlessness when it comes to the impossible task of representing yourself the way you think is right; personally and professionally. When you feel like everything is for the taking no matter what you do.” – Julia Jacklin

Premiered via NPR, the track is accompanied by an equally striking visual filmed by Nick McKinlay, Jacklin’s long-time visual collaborator.

Nick and I drove out to the Hay Plain which is one of my favourite parts of Australia. We spent about 14 hours in the car, jumping out when something looked beautiful. Whenever I listened to this song I knew the clip had to be a driving one, destination unknown.”

Julia Jacklin is currently finishing up a month-long tour throughout the US in support of First Aid Kit, and will head to the UK in November for a series of her own headline dates, which sold out in less than a week. Last month, she joined Vance Joy on-stage at triple j’s One Night Stand to perform a crowd-pleasing rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’.

Her debut album Don’t Let The Kids Win, featuring Pool Party, ‘Leadlight’ and ‘Coming of Age’, achieved stunning critical acclaim across the globe and has seen her touring non-stop since its release. Jacklin was awarded ‘Next Big Thing’ at the FBi Radio SMAC Awards and Best Independent Blues and Roots album at the AIR Awards in 2017. She was also nominated for two ARIA Awards and Album of the Year at the J Awards.

‘Body’ is out now via Liberation Records for Australia and New Zealand, Polyvinyl for the US and Transgressive for the UK/ Europe.
