We are beyond excited to announce that Sam Weston has joined the Soothsayer label family along with the unleashing of his new 13 minute journey of a single Don’t Save Face upon the world.

Sam Weston is far from a fresh upstart. He is an enigmatic name within the Australian House-scene, releasing a dusty collection of late-night/early-morning jams aptly titled Shiraz Voyager (2016), and is more commonly known as one half of influential Sydney techno duo – Alba. Lorded for their brand of live-fire robotic grooves, Alba became trailblazers in a town more Miami than Berlin, where brooding and rolling hypnosis weren’t often preferred to fist pumping “bangers”.

Written during a two month stint living alone in the remote desert in South Australia, ‘Don’t Save Face’ is a nod to Weston’s experience of the harsh reality of what living away from civilisation serves you. “I had inconsistent access to electricity for my synths” Weston explains of the process, “…so this track is more sample-based than previous pieces”, the separation from everyday life shines through in the song, with an underlying sense of no distractions. A pure focus on the music itself.

The single also features samples Weston collected while travelling through Thailand in 2015. The producer was drawn to Luk Thung, which is a style of Thai ‘country’ music, this dynamic and unusual sound struck a chord, and its influence adds a subtle uniqueness to the track.

With impressive runs already on the board for the Sydney producer, this next exploration in to the worth of Sam Weston is sure to be nothing less than delicious.
