In exciting news, The Teskey Brothers kick off 2019 with the incredibly funky, hook-laden new single ‘Right For Me’, a fan-favourite from the band’s renowned live set and previously unreleased until now.

As a treat to fans, the band has also released a b-side, ‘Baby Blue’, to accompany the single’s release. Both tracks are available now, digitally and on limited edition 7” vinyl

Lead singer Josh Teskey says about ‘Right For Me’,

“It’s basically a song about being smitten with someone more than you should, considering you don’t know them very well. It’s sort of a love-at-first-sight feeling. Or the feeling you’ve had a spell cast on you, or a love potion. Or the feeling you’ve been hit by one of cupid’s arrows. Or all those metaphors put together. I guess it’s a subject lots of people have felt and written about over the years (‘Black Magic Woman’, ‘I Put A Spell On You’, ‘You Must Have Put Your Whammy On Me’). We’ve all had that feeling of being hooked on someone you don’t really know that well, but you fantasise that they’re just ‘Right For Me’.”

The new single follows the 2018 deluxe release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Half Mile Harvest, which featured two new tracks, ‘I Get Up’ and ‘Say You’ll Do’.

There is something incredibly special about the Warrandyte four-piece, who formed over a decade ago when brothers Sam (guitar) and Josh Teskey teamed up with childhood friends, and long-time jamming buddies, Brendon Love (bass) and Liam Gough (drums). It’s not just the music they make, or their preternatural ability to conjure the spirit of soul and blues masters, or even lead singer Josh Teskey’s era-defying voice that seems to belong more in the Mississippi Delta than rural Victoria. It’s the fact that they’ve been hiding in plain sight, honing their craft for a decade, playing countless shows at the local pub, weddings and even a swimming pool, before making serious waves with their debut album Half Mile Harvest – released in January 2017.

The band released Half Mile Harvest independently, rolling out a complete DIY plan (including hand-delivering most of the stock themselves). The album went on to sell over 20,000 units. They quickly sold out of the 500 vinyl records they had pressed, thinking it would take years to offload them all, and soon found themselves on stage at Meredith Festival, playing strings of sold-out shows around Australia, touring the US and the UK and fulfilling a dream of playing at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.

A highlight of that globetrotting live set, ‘Right For Me’ is now available digitally and on limited edition 7” vinyl. If two songs aren’t enough, watch this space for more exciting news from The Teskey Brothers in 2019!
